Slow Connections

If your connection is extremely slow, your modem may be having trouble communicating with our modems. This could be related to, among other things, your phone line (distance to carrier, clarity), your modem software or the wiring between your computer and the phone jack. This problem can usually be corrected by one of the following suggestions.

Visit the Web site of your modem manufacturer and download the latest drivers. This is usually the best way to correct issues with your modem and speed up your connection.

If you are using an access number from network 1, try using an access number from network 2. When you search for an access number on our web site or from our access number text file, we will display the network under the heading "net."

Although technically you are slowing down your modem speed, you may actually experience a faster connection because of fewer communication errors. If you do not know how to slow down your modem, contact Customer Support for assistance.
