Configuring your connection is easy and takes less than 5 minutes. You will need your local access number to connect to the Internet. If you don’t already know the number, click the Access Numbers tab to search for a number or to download a text file of local access numbers.
Go to Start -> Settings and tap the Connections tab.
On the connections window, under the first section that says "When needed, automatically connect to the Internet using these settings," tap the Modify button.
On the Internet Settings window, on the Modem tab, tap the New... listing to create a new connection.
On the Modem window, your modem will be listed: Tap the Next button to continue.
It will ask you for the access number: Enter the country code, area code and phone number. Be certain that all fields are filled with the appropriate numbers. Then tap the Next button to proceed.
On the final connection window, tap Finish to create the connection.
On the Internet Settings window, tap OK in the upper right corner.
On the Connections window, tap the Dialing Locations tab.
To create a new location, click New and name the location. Or, use your current location.
Make sure that the Local settings are setup properly.
Click the Dialing Patterns button.
This section tells your system how to dial the access number. At the bottom of the screen there is a 'key' to help you set this up. The letters E, F, and G are just variables. They take the place of the numbers they represent. The first line is For Local calls. The second line is For Long Distance calls. The third is For International calls. Make sure you set up the pattern the way you would need to dial the number in that area. See the following examples:
Local: 9,G (dial "9" to get an outside line, then dial the number without the area code)
Long distance 9,1FG (dial "9" then dial 1 + area code + number)
International: 9,011,EFG (dial "9" then dial 011 + country code + area code + number)
When finished, click OK to save the dialing patterns.
Click the Connections tab and then click Connect next to Internet Settings.
Enter your username and password. Enter your username along with the following prefix: bdu/username (see note below). Leave the Domain blank. Then tap OK.
Once connected, start Internet Explorer.
